At the beginning of our Orientation module we were set to walk across the Tay Bridge, take photos, sketch and watch how the city changed due to our perspective. It was absolutely freezing but I was keen to actually sketch from life as I find it much easier to judge spaces and perspective without photographs. My sketches are as follows…

Above, my sketches depict the Telford Beacon, view looking down the bridge and a vague sketch of the sweeping waterfront.

This set of sketches are of the observation type building next to the bridge, the rail bridge with cranes and the buildings on the north-east side of the bridge.

I am still unsure of the actual purpose of such an exercise but enjoyed the excuse to get out, sketch and draw from life.
